Production:
The production for the film industry has 4 stages these are, the development, pre production, production and post production.
The Development:
In development a project producer(this could either be 1 person or a large group of people), the film Lee Daniels' The Butler had 41 project producers. Project producers
would gather ideas to create a story which would after be given to a writer to create a synopsis based on the ideas, through this the stage directions and dialogue will be created for the film.
Pre Production:
Pre production is when every part of the film is created, a story board is used to create the visual ideas of what camera shots and effects will be used in the final creation of the film. This also helps the production team know a rough budget for the film.
Production:
Production is when the film crew will film the shots from the story board and keep filming until they are of a high professional standard, the actors and directors are also involved within this stage because they are needed to film the whole story.
Post Production:
Post production is when the filmed clips are edited and finalised, in this stage music tracks may be added, as well as text, lighting and visual effects will be added to the video.
Distribution:
To distribute a movie in the film industry is to make it available to be watched or consumed by the audience.
This can be done through many ways such as;
Standard release, this is when the film is realised in the cinemas than eventually the film will be distributed on DVD which can than be view on television.
Simultaneous release, this is when the film is available to be view in multiple ways rather than a standard release for the product.
Straight to video release, this is when the product is release from the studio straight to TV companies or DVD companies to be either showed or manufactured.
Internet release, this is when the film is release on the Internet to either be downloaded or streamed by users, this is predicted to be the future of releasing films but still has some issues with privacy.
Marketing:
The most common examples of marketing are;
Trailers (either on television or on the Internet)
Adverts (which can be on anything from billboards, to web pages, to buses)
Radio
Friends (speech can be the most efficient way of advertising to date)
Films are sold differently to audiences, some people would watch a film by buying the DVD or even going to see the film in the cinemas, however now companies allowing people to watch free movies with a monthly subscription such as netflix and love film are increasingly becoming popular throughout society.
Exhibitions:
Audiences today get to see films in many different ways, some popular ones are;
The cinemas
Streaming/Downloading from online
Watching the DVD
Today you can even watch films on your smartphone making it even easier to gain access to watching movies.
