Target Audience
‘Thor: The Darkness World’, is the continued sequel to ‘Thor’ (first movie). The first movie was released in 2011 received great sales in the box office, which then encouraged the makers of ‘Thor’ to continue with a sequel. ‘Thor’ initially started out as a comic book story written by Stan Lee, Larry Leiber and Jack Kirby ,so therefore because of its history ‘Thor’ has already gained a very strong fan base. The target audience for ‘Thor is very much the people that enjoyed ‘Thor’ as a comic but also it could be for who enjoys sci-fi and fantasy type genre movies. The movie also targets

Distribution
Following the success of the first movie, ‘Thor: The Darkness World’ carried on with the convention and to released the movie nationwide. By releasing ‘Thor: TDW’ nationwide this means that the audience throughout the whole nation is able to watch the movie. Although ‘Thor: TDW’ is released nationwide, a blanket release was not featured with this. A blanket release is when they distributors decide to release the movie all on the same date and time for every country they plan to release it.
Thor will also go through a standard release type. This type of release is the most commonly used for many movies as it is works effectively for the movie. This strategy is called ‘release windows’ and the purpose of this type of release are so that the movie is able to benefit from different markets at different times. Example the movie would be released first but after a few months the DVD for the movie would then be released, this means a few months after the movie is released in cinema it will be sold to consumers as a DVD or Blu-ray disc then onto internet based distributors of movies.

Marketing
Marketing is a very important element of distributing the movie and as this is not the first time Thor has been marketed, we know that the marketing strategies that were used will mostly be repeated.
